• Mrs. Ellis, Literacy Specialist

    Mrs. Ellis

I love being part of the Falcon Family here at Shirley D. Simmons Middle School.  My role as the Literacy Specialist is to coordinate the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), support teachers, collaborate with administrators, and promote learning, achievement, and success for ALL students!  I especially enjoy working with students who need supplemental support to be successful.  I know from experience students can and will learn, just at different rates.

    About the Teacher

I love teaching and have been a classroom teacher since 2000 when I graduated from Delta State University.  I've taught both elementary and middle school.  I'm a National Board Certified Teacher since 2005, and I'm also the National Board Coordinator for Madison County Schools.  If you ever have questions, concerns, or needs about the Board certification process, please contact me because I'm happy to help!  I earned a Master of Education Degree from The University of Mississippi in 2007.  Hotty Toddy!

In 2009 I married my best friend/wonderful husband Robert and moved to Madison County.  I taught 1st grade at Mannsdale Elementary and transferred to Madison Middle to teach English Language Arts.  This is my 7th year (5th at SSMS) to be a Literacy Specialist, and I love what I do!  If you have questions or want to know more about the MTSS Process, please contact me.  I'm here as a resource and happy to help!
