Welcome to the Media Center's webpage!  This year when your child comes to the Media Center they will reading, researching, and reading! Our mission is to enhance your children's reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary by exposing them to multiple forms of print. In addition to reading books, students will be enhancing skills taught in the classroom.

For the 2023-24 school year, students will be able to download digital books via phone or iPad to read at home. This year's Library theme is Reading is Elemental.  Each student is challenged to read at least 15 minutes a day. This will maximize their success in and out of the classroom. I will post updates throughout the school year about the amazing things that are happening in the Library.

My name is Natasha May and this is my 8th year here at Highland but my 23rd year as a Media Specialist! I am the Bookfair Chairperson. In addition, I facilitate the distribution and repair of your scholar's Chromebook.

I am from Natchez, MS.  I earned my Bachelor's Degree from Thee Jackson State University.  I  also have a Master's Degree in Education and a Doctoral Degree in Education Leadership. I am the mother of three girls. I enjoy reading, traveling, and spending time with family.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about your child's success in the Library or Chromebook issues.

A good library will never be too neat, or too dusty, because somebody will always be in it, taking books off the shelves and staying up late reading them.
