Hello! It is an honor to be a part of the Madison School District Band Program! Our band program has a very strong and distinguished history that we are so pleased to share with the students of Madison County. We as a band staff want to make the journey of music one that the students enjoy and appreciate so that they may reap the benefits of music for the rest of their lives. We work hard to prepare for performances and we are very proud of the students with whom we are blessed to teach!
About the Teacher
My name is Jennifer Sills, and it is my pleasure to be a part of such a distinguished Band program here at Madison Schools. This is my 21st year as a band director here in the state of Mississippi. I am originally from Yazoo City and graduated from Delta State University in 1998. I have worked at Forest Hill High School, Clinton High School, Stone County High School and Gulfport High School/Bayou View Middle School. I was named Most Outstanding Middle School Band Director by the Gulf Coast Band Director's Association in 2013, am a member of Phi Beta Mu International Band Director Fraternity, and a member of American School Band Director's Association. This summer I served as the Concert Director for the MS Lions All State Band as the band traveled to Las Vegas, NV, where they were named International Champions for the 6th year in a row! I am a National Board Certified Teacher, a member of the MS Teacher Council, and recently received my Masters in Educational Leadership. I am currently completing coursework for my Specialist in Instructional Leadership at William Carey University. My main instrument is saxophone, and I really enjoy teaching and playing clarinet! I have twins, Kaitlyn and Peyton, who will be in the 12th grade at Madison Central High School. I love to garden and cook, and generally spend time outdoors. I am really looking forward to this year at Madison Central High School and Madison Middle School!
