    Melinda Lea Calvert

I am grateful to be serving this community through teaching music to the 3rd-5th students at MAUE.
I am a 1986 graduate of Mississippi State University and received my Education certification from Mississippi College.
I studied Dance at Southeastern Louisiana University and played for the SLU Tennis Team. I grew up in
Brookhaven, MS and I am a graduate of Brookhaven High School. I am currently working toward a
Masters in Educational Leadership at Mississippi College.
My love for music began growing up as a member of my church youth group and youth choir.
I have directed over 50 musicals with children from kindergarten to 12th grade in Vicksburg, Brandon and Madison.
While attending Belmont University in Nashville, TN, I received Kodaly I Certification. Kodaly is a method of teaching
in which Music is taught through singing.
I enjoy all styles of music including Christian, Country and Pop! My favorite singer is Celine Dion!
I enjoyed recording my first album in the Scruggs Reording Studio in Nashville where I gain
valuable experience as a recordng artist.
I believe that ALL students should be given the opportunity to explore their musical gifts and have the
opportunity to experience the power of music.
It is my honor to share my passion for music with your children.
