Welcome to 7th Grade Language Arts at Madison Middle School!  Information about my schedule, classroom policies, class assignments and homework can be found in the links to the left.

I'm looking forward to an amazing year at Madison Middle.  I hope that your child will not just be successful in my class, but learn more about themselves as we read, analyze, create and collaborate together.  It's going to be a great year!

Educational Background:  I am from Madison and graduated from Madison Central High School.  I received a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Ole Miss and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Belhaven University.  I taught at Richland Upper Elementary for 4 years before starting at Madison Middle in 2016.  I have taught 5th grade Science and Social Studies, as well as 6th and 7th grade Language Arts.  This coming year will be my 8th year as a teacher.

Additional Training & Church Involvement:  I am trained to lead Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a Montessori style Sunday School curriculum.  I am very involved at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, serving on the vestry, as VBS co-chair and as a Catechesis teacher.

Family:  My husband Buddy and I met at Camp Bratton-Green, Mississippi's Episcopal summer camp that we both grew up attending.  We have two children, Whit (12) & Caroline (8), who attend Madison Middle & Madison Station.  I come from a family of educators.  My mother taught English at Madison Central High School for 17 years and my sister currently teaches English at Murrah High School.  My grandmother was an English teacher and my aunt is a retired elementary librarian.  I'm very blessed to have all these wonderful educators as my role models.

Interests:  We enjoy attending the many fun events and attractions in our capital city such as the museums, zoo and community events.  We also love to travel and go camping.  Our family serves as volunteer staff every summer at Camp Bratton-Green.  I love to read, exercise, try new recipes, listen to podcasts & watch Netflix!  I enjoy seeing plays and musicals at the theater and going to the movies.  When I have time, I love a good DIY project, whether for my home or classroom.

Favorites:  I love coffee, chocolate, candles, magazines, Mexican food and sushi!
