    Welcome Message

Good day and welcome! Buenos días y bienvenidos! Bonjour et bienvenue! Buongiorno e benvenuto! Guten Tag und willkommen! God dag och välkommen! God dag og velkommen! Goedendag en welkom! Dzień dobry i pożądany! Dobrý den a vítejte!

I am Miss Pollard, and I will be your child's Science and Social Studies teacher. I am very excited to inspire or further develop an interest in these subjects in your child. I am excited to get to know each of the children I am teaching this year.
    About the Teacher

I grew up in the Delta in Clarksdale, MS, but I live in Jackson, MS, now. I graduated from Mississippi College with a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education with a certification in Spanish and endorsements in English and Social Studies in 2014 and with a Master's in Elementary Education with a certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in 2015. This is my sixth year as a full time teacher at MUES. Before that I taught part time for one year at Mannsdale Elementary as a 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Pathways teacher.  I love being a Maverick because this school is full of great teachers and administrators who are knowledgeable and helpful.

A few fun facts about me:
I love to travel and have been to 13 countries outside of the U.S. (England, Honduras, Peru, France, Italy, the Vatican, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, The Netherlands, Poland, and the Czech Republic). I try to pick up a few phrases from each of the languages of the countries to which I have traveled (hence the welcome at the top of this page), or any language with which I come in contact.
I love to try new things, especially foods. I have eaten ostrich, guinea pig, crickets, scorpion, rattle snake, caterpillars, alligator, octopus, swordfish, conch, amongst other things.
I love history, reading, acting, theatre, playing piano, and dancing; therefore, I took dance (tap, jazz, and ballet) for 14 years.
