    All About Mrs. Smith

OTHER EXPERIENCE: I have enjoyed teaching every grade 1st - 5th. I believe the experience I have gained from each of these grades helps me understand what the children have learned in the past and what they need to learn for the future! I am an author! I have written an easy to understand book, "What in the World is Common Core?" that is available for purchase online.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama. Roll Tide!  I am certified to teach K-8. I am a National Board Certified teacher and past assessor of National Boards.

HOBBIES: I love to relax with my family. I love the beach, cool breezes, the sound of children’s laughter, and growing spiritually with my faith community.  I like to turn “trash” into treasures by painting, staining, and refinishing objects. My husband and I love to go camping in our RV. We tailgate to all of the Alabama games and love cheering on Crimson Tide! I like scrapbooking & making books about my children at home. I love to laugh and believe that learning can be lots of fun! I LOVE to read great books to kids. I am a lifelong learner who learns as much from my students as they learn from me! I have another book about to be published titled, "Southern Love."

FAMILY INFORMATION: I am happily married with three children. Alex-20 who is a junior at the University of Alabama, Caroline Grace-16 who is a high school junior at Madison Central, and Ansley Rose-12, who is a seventh grader at Madison Middle. My two nieces Allie age 5, and 2 year old Riley Bleu, also live with us. We have an extremely awesome Bassett Hound named FLASH, my poky little puppy cocker spaniel named Babycakes, and several fish. Our home is busy and filled with love!

Completely Useless Fun Facts about Mrs. Smith:  I had a college scholarship to play softball. I was a mascot for a minor league ball team as a young adult. I taught swimming lessons and was a lifeguard in the summer for many years. I also taught gymnastics as a teen.  I love all things Dr. Seuss and University of Alabama!
