  • WELCOME

Welcome to 6th Grade English Language Arts!  I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child and working together to help your child succeed.  As parents and guardians, I recognize that you are the most important teachers in your child's life, and it is with that understanding that I appreciate the role that you and I each play in the partnership in your child achieving the goals set forth for him or her.

I would like to take this opportunity to give you a brief overview of myself.  I earned my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Belhaven University.  Additionally, I have earned my Educational Specialist degree in Reading from Arkansas State University.  I have sixteen years of classroom experience, and this is my seventh year to join the Old Town family during the 2024-2025 school year.  My husband and I have been married for 27 years, and we have two amazing children.  My daughter is 24 and continuing her studies in the field of medicine at William Carey University, my son-n-law is a student pastor, and my son is 20 and attends Hinds Community College.

I will be teaching your child English Language Arts, which encompasses reading comprehension, writing, and language.  I love instilling a lifelong passion for reading and writing in all of my students.  I have very high expectations of myself as a teacher, as well as of my students, and I have always found that to be a formula for success.  I want this to be an enjoyable year for all of my students but also a productive, challenging, and encouraging year.  In my classroom, we make efforts; no excuses.  We respect each other.  We do what is right; we are BLUE. We are capable of conquering challenges, and understand that responsibility and hard work are the keys to being successful.

I want you to know that one of my most important goals is to keep the lines of communication open with you.  If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact me.  Communication is a huge part of your child's success.  I can be contacted at (601) 898-8730, and I can return your call during my planning time or after school. My email address is kejackson@madison-schools.com.  If you have transportation changes, please give that information to the office, and they will notify me of the change.

Once again, welcome to 6th grade!  I know that, together, we can make this a wonderful school year!

It's a great day to be a Titan!
