My name is Leah Addison. I am thrilled to be teaching Learning Strategies for the 2023-2024 school year. I cannot wait to meet my students! We are going to have an amazing year.
This will be my 17th year teaching in the Madison County School District. I am a Mississippi College graduate, and I received my Master‘s Degree in Education from William Carey University. In 2002, I began my teaching career at the Mississippi Children's Learning and Behavior Center. At that time, I worked with children on the Autism Spectrum in clinical, school, and home-based settings. In 2005, I obtained my Mississippi Teacher Certification through the Alternate Route to Quality Teachers Program and began teaching in the Madison County School District. I have taught a variety of classrooms and multiple grades throughout my teaching career.
In my classroom, I strive to maintain a loving, structured, and consistent environment where the students clearly know the expectations, and we are learning each and every day! Students will learn organizational skills, future planning skills, study skills, and remediation skills for what is being taught in the ELA classrooms. This year, I will strategically look at data, create specific lesson plans, and provide interventions to meet the individual needs for all of our students. My goal is to close these gaps through various Reading Interventions. Communication is a huge part of our success, so I encourage you to reach out and let me know if you ever have any concerns or questions.
I have 3 amazing children. Avery (18), Austin (16), and Asher (9). I am married to my wonderful husband of 21 years. We attend Broadmoor Baptist Church, and enjoy watching our children play sports on the weekends.
