Welcome to Mrs. Coate's Classroom
I am happy to be a member of the AOC team. I have been teaching for 19.5 years (8 in Louisiana and 11.5 in Mississippi). I have taught US History, Government and Law teacher at Madison Central, Velma Jackson and Ridgeland High Schools. I also taught Learning Strategies for USH SATP and ACT Reading Prep. I served on the Standard Setting Committee for USH SATP and also certified in APUSH and AP Government.
I currently hold a B.A in Political Science (Pre-Law) and a B.A. in Secondary Education. I also hold a Masters in Education degree in Curriculum and Testing and a Master of Arts degree in History. I am also a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in the area of High School Social Studies. While in Graduate School, I completed an internship with the Louisiana State Legislature and the US Supreme Court.
I have been married to my husband, Bryan for 13 years. He is a Navy Veteran and currently, a Maritime Captain down at the mouth of the Mississippi River. We are both originally from the New Orleans area. We have a daughter, Bryanna, who is starting 6th Grade at Germantown Middle School. I serve as a board member with Junior Auxiliary of Madison County and chair projects that benefit many of our kids in the Madison County School District.
