Welcome to First Grade!
I am excited to be teaching first grade at Madison Station Elementary!
Born and raised in Ennis, Texas, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Texas. This will be my 21st year of teaching. I have taught prekindergarten, kindergarten, first grade, and reading intervention. I love to witness the growth of skills in young learners and work hard to establish a firm foundation of learning.
My husband, Henry, and I moved to Madison in 2019. We have four children—Bailey, Ben, Blair, and Brooke. Bailey is a PhD student in English literature at Emory University. Ben is beginning his law career in Atlanta, Georgia after graduating from Harvard University and Columbia Law School. Blair is a PhD Student in art history at Yale University. Brooke is a sophomore at Southern Methodist University where she is a member of the pom squad and serves as Student Body Secretary. Saturdays in the fall will find us rooting for the TCU Horned Frogs and the SMU Mustangs!
My motto for teaching and learning is
"I hear and I forget.
I see and I remember.
I do and I understand."
It is my honor and pleasure to be your child's teacher and your partner in education. It's going to be an AWESOME year!
