"Education is not the filling of a bucket, but the lighting of a fire."
- William Butler Yeats
Before you learn anything more about me, I first want to ensure you that my mission this year is for each student to suceed and grow as a student. My goal is not to fill each of my students' heads with knowledge but instead have each student yern to acquire that knowledge.
I am so excited to be at Madison Central this year. This will be my sixth year in Madison County as a teacher; however this will be my ninth year teaching overall. I previously taught Biology and BioMedical Research at Ridgeland High School, Biology and AP Biology at Laurel High School and Human Anatomy and Physiology at Starkville High School. I graduated high school from Madison Central several years ago; needless to say I am thrilled to have the opportunity to return. This past year I spent time working for a testing and consulting company writing science curriculums and testing items for the new 2018 Mississippi Science Standards, 2015 Alabama Course of Study Science Standards, as well as the Science Test portion of the ACT. I have an undergraduate degree from Mississippi State University in Kinesiology and Sports Communication/Marketing/Administration. I also have a Masters of Arts in Teaching from The University of Women.
