I am so excited your child will be in my class this year!
My name is Mrs. Julie Henry. My husband, Scott, and I have recently moved to Madison from Homosassa, Florida. We have been married for 30 years and have 4 grown children, ages 28, 26, 20, and 18. My two oldest children live in Boston, Massachusetts. My oldest daughter lives with us and is taking classes to become a special education teacher while working at Petco. Our youngest daughter will be attending Ole Miss in the fall to study Biological Sciences.
My undergraduate degree is from Virginia Commonwealth University, and I have a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northcentral University. My certifications include K-6, Reading, and Special Education. In addition, I have various teaching experiences, including General Education Kindergarten through Fifth Grade and Special Education Kindergarten through Transition. My most recent job was as the curriculum specialist at a special day school for students with significant disabilities.
This year, we will focus on challenging students to excel through collaboration and hands-on activities. I believe that all children can learn and be successful in classrooms that allow for experimentation and risk-taking. Research shows that experimentation and safe risk-taking are the best ways to foster growth. Additionally, we will focus on developing each student’s communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
