MENTORING
at
Ann Smith Elementary
As a member of the Building Bridges program in Madison County Mentoring program, students will work with students located at Ann Smith Elementary school. These sessions will be two or three times per week for approximately one hour. Students will be required to attend the Orientation/Kick-off ceremony at their assigned elementary school. If any other required meetings are scheduled outside of the students’ assigned mentoring period, students will receive a two-week notice.
The Mentoring program at RHS is available to seniors only. Students enrolled in the course will serve as mentors to a select group of elementary students for the 2023-2024 school year. Mentoring is a very rewarding personal experience. Students will improve their leadership and communication skills, learn new perspectives and ways of thinking, and gain a great sense of personal satisfaction. Using available technology, the students will assist the elementary students with assigned subject areas as directed by the classroom teacher. A team approach and the development of leadership abilities are emphasized. Students expand their critical thinking, organization, communication, and technology skills.
- Mentoring/Humanities is a semester course. Students receive one-carnegie unit for this class. The course syllabus, assignments, announcements, etc. can be found via Canvas. If you have any questions, please contact the instructor at kathyevans@madison-schools.com or 601-898-5023.
