Hello! Welcome to Madison Avenue K-2! I am so excited to be a part of Madison Avenue Elementary this school year and to have the opportunity to serve as your child's counselor! If at any time you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me by e-mail or phone. Madison Avenue is a WONDERFUL place! I am looking forward to getting to know and having the opportunity to work with you and your children.
I am originally from New Albany, MS, which is in North Mississippi. My husband and I moved to Madison 11 years ago thinking we would live in Madison a short amount of time and then move back to North Ms. It did not take us long to fall in love with Madison, and 11 years later, this is home to us! I attended The University of Mississippi where I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, and then I pursued my Master's in Community Counseling after that. After graduating from Ole Miss, I worked in Oxford at a mental health facility as a school-based therapist and also on the Ole Miss campus in the Deans Office for the College of Liberal Arts. After moving to Madison, I completed my Educational Specialist degree in School Counseling through Delta State University. I completed a year internship at Madison Central High School in the Office of Student Services, and then I became a counselor at Germantown High School. I have worked in Madison County Schools at Germantown High School for the past 10 years (11 years total in education) helping students learn to navigate high school, prepare for their future after high school, and work through many challenges that teenagers face on a daily basis. While I was at Germantown High School, I received my National Boards for Certified School Counselors as well as my Licensed Professional Counselor Licensures (LPC).
I am married to Blakely Walden. We have a 7 year old daughter, Harper Grace Walden. She will be a 2nd grader this year at MAE! We are huge animal lovers, and we basically have a "zoo" at our house! We have 4 dogs: Macy, Coco, Buttons, and Pandee. We also have 2 cats, Smokey and Snickers, and we have 2 Glofish, Branch and Poppy. In my free time I enjoy traveling, attending Ole Miss Sporting events, going to Darden Lake, swimming, reading books, and spending time with my family and friends.
I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with you and your child this school year. I am so excited to start my first year at MAE and get to know every one of you! I cannot wait to watch your child grow and navigate MAE excellently. If at any time you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me by e-mail at twalden@madison-schools.com, or please call the school at 601-856-2951. It is going to be a great year!!!
Go Jags!!!
