About Mrs. Swindoll
Carrie Swindoll attended the University of Southern Mississippi where she earned a bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. As a student at Southern Miss., Mrs. Swindoll studied Clarinet under Professor Wilbur Moreland. She has performed with numerous groups during her undergraduate career such as the Southern Miss Wind Ensemble, Southern Miss Symphony Orchestra, Clarinet Choir, and the Pride of Mississippi marching band. She has also performed with the Meridian Symphony. Mrs. Swindoll was also active in competitions and organizations. She received first place in the MTNA Jr./Sr. Woodwind Solo competition and Clarinet quartet. She was also a member and officer in MENC, the National Association for Music Education.One of Mrs. Swindoll’s fondest experiences was performing with the Italian Army Band in Rome Italy where she also studied privately under principal clarinetist, Carlo Calcagnini.
In 2006, Mrs. Swindoll started her teaching career in the Forrest County School District. She served as director for Dixie and South Forrest Attendance Centers and the Color guard coordinator for Forrest County Agriculture High School band. In her tenure, she started a performing band program at South Forrest and doubled the program's enrollment in just one year. She also implemented the district's first winter guard competition group. In the first year in competition the group won State Championship in their division. Mrs.Swindoll continued her teaching career with Madison County Schools, where she was the woodwind specialist and was responsible for the third high school band at Madison Central and the second band at Rosa Scott. Under her direction, the Rosa Scott band received all superior ratings at competitions.
In 2012 Carrie Swindoll became a Maverick at Germantown High School and Middle School. She is the Assistant band director and color guard instructor. Her first year at Germantown she started a competitive middle school and high school indoor color guard team. The High School color guard placed in several competitions and the Middle School color guard had an Undefeated Season and Won State Championship in 2012, 2016, 2017, & 2018. She is excited about many great years to come. Outside of her teaching in public schools, Mrs. Swindoll is an active private clarinet lesson instructor and regularly performs with local churches and the MS. Winds Symphony.
Mrs.Swindoll and her husband, Brian, reside in Flora, MS with their son Carter and daughter Bailee.
