    About the Counselor 

    My name is Leigh Earnest, and I am excited to serve as one of the Rosa Scott School counselors.  My goal is to effectively support the social, emotional, and educational needs of all our students.  I love our students and will do whatever necessary to help them reach their goals.  We will work together to devise an individualized “Four Year Plan” that accurately depicts the student’s educational and career goals as he or she embarks upon their high school years.  The ninth grade year is a critical time for all students developmentally as well as educationally.   I am here for each student every step of the way!
     
    I attended the University of Alabama and Mississippi College where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (K-12: Math & English) and a Master’s Degree in Counselor Education.  I also hold a Special Education endorsement.  I earned a Specialist’s Degree from the University of Mississippi in Counselor Education with an emphasis in Play Therapy.  I am a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC) and a National Board Certified School Counselor (NCSC).  I am currently working on my doctorate in Educational Leadership.  I am an active member of the Mississippi Counselor Association where I most recently served as Secretary. I have had the pleasure of working for Madison County Schools for 19 years as a teacher and as a counselor.  I am proud to say that 16 of those years have been at Rosa Scott.  This truly is a wonderful place! 
     
    In my spare time, I enjoy my volunteer work with the Junior League of Jackson, spending time with my precious dogs (Titus & Sullye Marie) and my amazing mom, watching movies, reading, and traveling to fun places!
