    Peyton Sills, a Madison Central High School alum, graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2023 with a Bachelor of Music Education. At Southern Miss, he was a member of the University of Southern Mississippi Wind Ensemble and the Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble.  

    In 2019 he was the winner of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band’s concerto competition in Washington D.C. where he was featured as a guest soloist later that spring.  He also won first prize in the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Festival in Blue Lake, Michigan.  In 2022, Sills won the University of Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra concerto competition and was featured as a guest soloist.  He was also recognized by the USM School of Music Faculty as the 2022 Theodore Presser Scholar.  Sills has been a proponent of new music for tuba and euphonium and is responsible for several commissions and world premieres of solo and chamber works for both instruments.  

    Sills regularly teaches private lessons to low brass students across the central Mississippi area.  Prior to graduation in May of 2023, he student-taught at Northwest Rankin Middle and High School.  Sills began his teaching career in Cumming, Georgia and will begin his first year as Assistant Band Director at Madison Central High School in 2024.  Sills' professional affiliations include the International Tuba and Euphonium Association, the National Association for Music Education, and the National Band Association.
