Grading Policy
Classwork is graded for accuracy and is weighted as a daily grade.
Students complete these in class and are allowed to ask me for assistance if they are not sure how to complete the work.
Homework is graded for accuracy. It is weighted as a daily grade.
Homework will be on the Savvas website and will be required to complete. It is assigned on "A Day" and is due on the next "A Day".
Failure to complete it will result in an NG on the grade book until done. I will take homework assignments up to the chapter test.
IXL is weighted as a daily grade and is due each Friday.
IXL is assigned weekly and students are required to complete the 5 skills given each week. If they fail to complete the 5,
they can make them up throughout the nine weeks. These can be completed at home as well as at school when time permits.
Quizzes are weighted as 2 daily grades. (This does not make quizzes a major grade.)
Quizzes will be taken on Mastery Connect in the classroom and are a double daily grade. All students are required to take quizzes.
Tests are major grades.
Tests will be taken on Mastery Connect in the classroom, and it is the only type of Major Grade given.
Late Work
Late classwork is accepted for full credit due to absences and the handbook guidelines are followed.
Homework and IXL late work are discussed above.
Extra Credit
I do not give extra credit work in my class. Students have plenty of opportunities to increase overall scores throughout each term.
Grade Weight on Grade book
MAJOR GRADES: 66% (Chapter tests)
MINOR GRADES: 34% (Classwork, homework, other daily grades)
Explanation of how grades are calculated in Active Parent/Student: All daily grades are averaged as one grade. All major grades are averaged as one grade.
The system then takes the scores and the major grade is counted twice and the minor grade is counted once and then averaged as the class score.
"NM" in the grade book is a place marker waiting for a grade and does not affect overall grade.
"X" means a student is not being held responsible for the assignment and also does not affect overall grade.
