Hello, my name is Emily Lauren Seiss! This is my fourth year here at GHS and I will be teaching Child Development and Nutrition & Wellness!

    Background:

I attended Mississippi State University where I majored in Human Development & Family Science and obtained my certification as a Family Life Educator. #hailstate!!! After college, I left Starkville to teach back in my hometown. Madison County Schools will always hold a special place in my heart as I was a graduate of Madison Central in 2017.

    Teaching:

Becoming a teacher was my biggest dream as a little girl, and I’m tickled I get to live out that dream every day. Although I haven’t been a teacher long, I quickly learned a successful semester (according to my students) wasn’t solely measured by how engaging/exciting my lessons were, but equally how I made them feel each day they walked into my classroom. That being said, I made it my mission to never stop trying to ensure that all of my students feel welcome, worthy, and loved each time they enter my room.

Family Consumer Science (formerly known as Home Economics) courses are incredibly fun and rewarding to teach. They give me an opportunity to equip my students with functional life skills that they can apply wherever life takes them after GHS… whether that is at a community college/university, trade school, or even the work force. It is always a JOY to hear how my former students are using the content I taught them in the “real world.” If you would like to see the different units we will be covering, I have listed them under each course name!

    Hobbies:

When I’m not in the classroom or attending a Maverick sporting event/concert, I enjoy reading, cleaning/organizing, and spending time with Lillie Jane! LJ is my very spoiled three-year-old lab mix who keeps me busy. You will find pictures of her scattered across my classroom.

Please email me if you have any questions.

We are going to have the BEST semester!

    GO MAVS!!!
