    Summer assignment for Mrs. Clapper-Davis 2023-2024


    Upcoming Juniors: I am very excited to be teaching you American Literature this year! In order to get you ready for the first semester, I will need you do complete the following assignments before the first day of school.

    REQUIRED READINGS FOR ALL STUDENTS:

    You need to read the two selections and TAKE NOTES for yourself. I will not grade the notes but will allow you to use them in class for the assessments we will have. Bring your notes/books the first week of school.  

    HERE is an example of how to annotate.

     The more annotation and note taking you do with the book the easier the assignments will be!

    1. READ The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne: FREE HERE (STUDENTS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO READ the introduction-chapter called “The Custom House.”)
