Hello!
My name is Ms. Katherine Brune and I am the Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Madison Central! This is my third year teaching, but my first year here at MCHS.
About Me
I graduated from Mississippi State University with my bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Science with a concentration in Family and Consumer Science Teacher Education. I had the amazing opportunity to take classes and in fashion design, culinary arts, and child development. I student taught at Caledonia High School, and have spent the past two years teaching at Petal High School.
When I am not working, I love to read, bake new recipes, and travel. I also love to hang out with my friends, family, and fiancé, Ben!
About FCS
Family and Consumer Sciences is a branch of classes that used to be known as Home Economics. Even though the name and classes may have changed over time, the goal is still to provide students with a well-rounded education. No matter where you go after high school - college, trade school, the workforce, the military - you will need life skills to be successful! These classes provide the opportunity to practice the skills and knowledge that students need for the "real world."
I will be teaching Child Development, Family Dynamics, and Nutrition and Wellness this year. Each class will provide students with the opportunity to participate in engaging projects, hands-on activities, and to grow as lifelong learners.
I am so excited about this school year, and I hope my students enjoy learning in my classes as much as I love to teach them!
