Go for the GOLD in PSAT OLYMPIC EVENTS!

Kudos, plaudits, and encomiums to our current leaders:

            JACKSON RIPPLE                            ANGELA LIN

Rippel Electrifies Lightning Vocabulary!.      Queen of Kahoots

Jaw-dropping Jackson really charged up and electrified the room on LIGHTNING VOCABULARY.  He's the last man "Still Standin' " after 3 rounds!   And Assiduous Angela is the UNDISPUTED QUEEN of KAHOOTS!

All these PERSPICACIOUS PSATers are VERY PUNNY, & they ROCK Mrs. Cooley's P.O.D.s even if we forget to say, "Pretty PEAS!"

    See for yourself...

  • DAY 2 - RIGOROUS WRITING  -

Another GREAT DAY is in the books for the 2024 PSAT Workshop. We were all in GRAMMAR JEOPARDY after Mrs. Miller prosecuted us for WORD CRIMES we committed on the May SAT Practice Test.  She sentenced us to do CUPID's GRAMMAR SHUFFLE, giving Mrs. Shiv the perfect opportunity to steal a dance with Jacob!

  • AUDIAL, VISUAL, & KINESTHETIC MATH - Mrs. Cooley followed up with some carpet time where we illustrated & wrote "graphic" math stories. Then we put our graphs into action, dancing the PARENT FUNCTIONS!

NOTE TO PARENTS: When we play JEOPARDY, team SPOKESMEN identify themselves by wearing silly hats. Table 5's uniquely talented SPEAKER was unsatisfied to wear a mere hat. Rather, he sported a unicorn's head for the entire game! Parent, do you recognize your PSATer?

  • DAY 3 - PJ DAY - MATH JOURNALS & JEOPARDY

Today we COLLABORATED, and our skills COALESCED. Students tutored students while our caped math crusader -- the one, the only FACTOR GIRL (a.k.a. Mrs. Cooley) -- swooped in and out rescuing those on sinking ships. Although we were in MATH JEOPARDY, together we created a rising tide of math skills which promises to raise all our scores!

Running down the hall, Violet D. and the Marvelous Mrs. M. led us through a grammar and usage obstacle course. They made DANG sure we didn't trip over those DANG  MODIFERS in that DANG backpack!

Alas & alack, we miss our dearly departed PSATers. Absentees, we want you to enjoy dance camp, but we can't wait for you to return!

  • Day 4 - WICs, Journals & Jeopardy, Kahoots, & Math Mysteries

We were really HOT today, literally and figuratively. We "burned" through those WICs. We were all pretty darn WICked (LOL), but Violet was the WICkedest of all! You, go, girl! Take that score "to infinity and beyond."

When in JEOPARDY--facing all DANG. MODs. & and disagreeing subjects and verbs,-- we were WICked smart with our wagers (especially Table 5).

And when facing mathematical mysteries, Landon led us to the fairly obvious logical conclusion that none of the rest of us (including cool Mrs. Cooley) could see for ourselves. Great work, Landon!

  • Day 5 - Friday's FRO-day -- That '70s Day! Don't we exhibit SARTORIAL flair? . . . especially MILLIE ANN in those groovy boots and that psychedelic sheath!

It's also GAME DAY -- P.O.D.s, Cliches, Relays, Lightning Vocabulary, and Trashketball!

Grayson & Millie Ann are real pea-pickers when it comes to our PSAT Math P.O.D.s.

Sleeping Sharknadoes & SLBT Club didn't just step up to the plate. They were in a dead heat in our PSAT Olympic Cliche Scavenger Hunt, which ended in a tie . . . which is no surprise  because both Tables 1 & 2 are in a league of their own verbally. . . or should I say, a league of their RUN-ON?

  • DAY 5 - WRITING RELAY & LIGHTNING VOCABULARYMiller called cadence as she led us onto the track. "PREP PHRASE--CROSS OUT! THE YOU DON'T HAVE TO DOUBT!"  Buty Cooley's EVEN-Stevens were off the starting block faster than Miller's ODD-MEN-AND-WOMEN-OUT. The EVENS won the first two heats easily. But the ODDs were proverbial come-back kids in the 3rd, which was NO photo-finish. It was a ROUT!

When LIGHTNING VOCABULARY struck, JRip was a casualty; Raine innundated us with correct answers, generating a flood that washed away all opposition.  Until next time, Raine rules!

  • DAY 5 - TRASHKETBALL - PSATers proved more adept at slam-dunking the math questions than at "trashing" the ball, but that's OK b/c there's no trashketball hoop on the PSAT -- just questions!

  • DAY 6 - PICKLES & PUNCH brought to you by LOVELY MRS. LEE

We chased ELUSIVE ALLUSIONS, translated PHONETICALLY DEFINED TERMS, practiced logic with THREE PSAT GODDESSES, and enjoyed a little advice  given by Perspicatious PSATers from the past.

  • DAY 7 - APPLES & ORANGES

Our "COOL" logic goddess walked us through a FRUITFUL lesson by translating an abstract problem into a concrete dilemma. ORANGE you glad she let us manipulate the variables as well as visualize them? The unicorn kid NO-AHs and will SHOW-US how to get the answer with a little help from JRip and LD. No SECOND BANANAS here! These young men are all TOP BANANAS in our PSAT FRUIT BASKET!

    AO

JRip, LD, and the Unicorn Kid get right to the core of the logic problem!

  • DAY 8 - PEOPLE ON THE PSAT

Our Perspicacious PSATers demonstrated SARTORIAL FLAIR and ACTING ACUMEN as well as SCINTILLATING INTELLECT in our PEOPLE YOU MEET ON THE PSAT Contest.  They illustrated sophisticated SAT vocabulary through costume & character.

                       LANDON                                                                              GRAYSON

In the BLOOPERS CONTEST, we impersonated our PEDAGOGUES, grading papers filled with EGREGIOUS ERRORS. Then we analyzed our own FAUX PAS & EGREGIOUS ERRORS on READING TEXTUAL COEs and WRITING SENTENCE STRUCTURE. Then in DESMOS Carpet Time with AMELIORATED errors in both in our calculations and on our calculators.  Yes, we were PROLIFIC and made PRODIGIOUS progress. . . even if we weren't quite as "fruitful" as yesterday! LOL!

  • DAY 9 - "PUT UP OR SHUT UP" DAY - RW TEST SIMULATION,  THE AMAZING RACE, & READING JEOPARDY

Put or shut up was the order of the day! We "threw down" on an RW test simulation. We engaged in an AMAZING RACE to the finish on Mrs. Cooley's MATH SCAVENGER HUNT. Then we put ourselves into READING JEOPARDY with Mrs. Shiv.,  testing our ability to make TIMELY TRANSLATIONS, to express UNCOMMON KNOWLEDGE, & to distinguish that which is EASILY CONFUSED.  What a day!

Coming tomorrow--OLYMPIC FINALS, SKITS, and the OFFICIAL PSAT WORKSHOP AWARDS CEREMONY!

  • DAY 10 - PSAT OLYMPIC FINALS

We journaled our errors on the RW test, worked our way through FINAL READING JEOPARDY, and competed in a rousing WRITING RELAY, which ended in an upset!
